Snug as a Bug in a Rug....

Notice Gunnar to the right in her jacket.... it's really not that bad;)

It's been a little on the chili side here the last few days and very much so in our house... as we have not given in to turing the heat back on.. This is how Gates chooses to stay warm!!!!

First in Fitness 2011

A LITTLE PICK ME UP...PRE PULL UP!

The pull up queen returns. Last year Gunnar made the first in fitness team for 3rd grade girls for pull-ups and again this year she has shown her strenth. By the way she gets that from her mama;). She came away with an amazing 14 pull ups, which put her in 5th place. She of course was disappointed in herself, if you know her you know that nothing but first is ok. I reminded her how great her accomplishment was, first to be part of such a great day of competition and second all the other 24 kids walked away with participation ribbons. That seemed to cheer her up a little, but she's already working on her strategy for next year! Santa brought her and Gates a pull up bar for Christmas, so the last few nights she, Todd and Gates have been "practicing". She did get a person best two nights ago of 32 pull-ups... yes 32! She is determined to be the BEST next year, but in my book she already is:)

THE COMPETITION AREA!! GUNNAR IS IN THE WAY BACK....

Gunnar Grace 14 pull-ups for an awesome 5th place finish!!
Bailey (speed rope) CECE (100 yard dash, broken arm and all) and GiGi(pull-up Queen)

The Grand Champion....

THE SMILE!!!!
March 5, 2011 Gunnar Grace was in her first ever horse show. The show was held at Triton Stables, the barn where she trains. It was an early morning for us and of course we were running late. This is how our day started.....

I got up about 15 minutes prior to waking Gunnar. I knew I needed my coffee before I could start the day. I woke her up, got all her stuff and put it in her bathroom so she could change and brush her teeth and such, only to notice that the nice man at the polo store FORGOT to take the sensor off of her shirt that she had to wear!!! I was in a panic. I ran to the garage got the plier out and started going to town, determined to get that sensor off. After a few minutes I did manage to break it off, thank GOD!!! Really that was the ONLY glitch in the day.

We got to the barn on time and Gunnar got started on her work for the day, grooming, and tacking up her horse. She showed in 3 classes. The first was flat, which is walk trot. She ended with a fifth place ribbon in that class, and let me tell you she was a little disappointed with that. She was determined to place higher in her next two classes. Megan her trainer gave her some pointers and Gunnar took serious notes. The next two classes were the hunter jumper category. She did fantastic! The great thing about her, is the smile on her face started the minute she woke up til the minute she got off her horse. She was so excited to be there. I can tell she is really in love with this sport. She never complains about the long drive or all the hard work that goes into riding. She has definately learned it's not about looking pretty sitting up on a horse. It is HARD work and very time consuming. The work is paying off as she ended her day with two FIRST place ribbons in her jump classes and an overall GRAND CHAMP ribbon for the highest number of points scored for the day!! I was one proud mamma... with one really happy girl!!!

Weekend full of one on one...

Tonight Gunnar and I got to enjoy a special date night, while Gates was away at a sleepover. Yes I know it's Sunday, but Gates doesn't have school because of Presidents Day, but Gunnar does:( She and I enjoyed catching up on some episodes of the Bachelor we had missed. We DVR them so we can go back and watch on our own time. We ate extra cheddar Goldfish, drank orange soda and chatted like girls!! I love one on one time with my kiddos. Gunnar and I don't get it enough, because she is at the age of "MEHOOD" that is somewhere in between kid, preteen and adulthood:) We both agreed we need to do "mom/daughter" time more often!!! Until next time......

The Boo Boo.....#7521

Soooo my little man took yet another tumble. He had a nasty bike crash on Friday and got major road rash on his knee. He literally didn't move off the couch all day Saturday except to take Todd to the airport. I picked him up in his undies and put him in the car kicking and screaming. Poor little guy! The only thing I could think is that it must have been like when I had the shingles and my skin was so raw, and buring. If he wasn't asleep he was crying:(.... Very hard when you are the mom and cant do anything to make it better. We did end the night on a good note. He and I had a movie and popcorn date night.. Gunnar was away at a sleepover and Todd was in Cali for a meet. I really enjoyed our time together... JUST US!

Pink Meet....2011

We enjoyed some much needed girl time at the PINK meet last weekend! The pink meet is in support of breast cancer awareness/research. As you can see we are all wearing our PINK;)

The Horse Girl....

Gunnar has a wonderful new activity that she can't get enough of. She absolutely LOVES riding horses. Shes been riding for several months and has learned a lot from this experience. She has learned that not only do you look pretty sitting up on that big horse, but it takes a lot of work, to get to the top! We get to the barn before the lesson even begins so that she can fetch her horse from the stable or the field, groom her horse, saddle him up and then walk him to the arena... She does it with such grace and pride. I love watching her lead such a huge animal around. She has to let them know she is in control(not hard for her as she is a bit bossy:)). It amazes me that she isn't afraid at all. Me on the other hand, well I try to pretend not to be afraid, but horses are BIG and STRONG! I'm so glad that she has finally found something that she truly loves.

EDDIE HASCAL

Snake Wrangler

Does anything more need to be said??? When Gates grows up he's going to be a snake wrangler!!!! Where oh where does this boy come up with these things? Gotta love him...

The Beginning

I think when I started this whole blogging thing Gunnar was starting first grade and Gates was starting preschool! Wow, the time has flown by. Gates is officially registered for kindergarten and Gunnar only has one year left of elementary school. My babies aren't babies anymore! They are both so grown up.....well,most of the time;).
