Time Keeps Ticking....

Can you believe it's 2012???? July of 2012. More that half the year has gone by, and Im still sitting here in awe of it all!! In the last year: Gunnar entered 5th grade. Her last year at Salem Elementary School. (SOB) She had a year to remember. Accomplished so much. Awesome teachers, grades,and reading beyond her grade level.... with Dyslexia this is a HUGE accomplishment. Math continues to be a challenge but with much determination and bribery she kept a perfect grade. She has discovered boys!!!! UGH They aren't icky and yucky anymore... Now she is picking out the one she's gonna marry:) She started gymnastics at TAG...where she had an amazing meet season. She conquered balance beam, most peoples' least favorite event... by far her favorite. She broke her foot twice in the same place... on bars. Only Gunnar could manage to break a foot on bars... For goodness sakes your feet aren't even on the floor!!! ONce again Gunnar made the First in Fitness Team at school, for pull-ups. Representing the 5th grade. She came in 2nd!!!! Her record was 26, but on that hot day she was ONLY able to pull out 20!!! Notice I said ONLY.... I think I can still do 3 and that's pushing it! Gunnar was on swim team once again this summer. Against her wishes we "made" her do it... It's great exercise and if she's got to be there to watch Gates she might as well participate. My theory anyway. She did GREAT.... I'm so happy early on we made the decision to make her swim year around. She is such a strong swimmer and such a joy to watch. I only wish I could swim with half the grace as she does. Gates started kindergarten... He loved it! His teachers loved him.(who wouldn't he's a doll). He made so many new friends and a special "girl" friend.... LIBBY:) We have all fallen in love with her. Honestly they could be twins, with their big eyes and white hair. Gates continues to play soccer. He's been on the same team.. the Meterors for the last five seasons. He's a great little soccer player. He's fast and aggressive, but such a great teammate. He passes the ball and encourages his friends to score and do their best. Don't get me wrong... he LOVES to score, always raising his hands and pumping his fist in victory. Something I love to see;) He still skateboards, and enjoys extreme sports. His newest venture has been BMX racing... on a dirt track. His first time racing he came in 2nd place, won a trophy and smiled for days. Full of life, that boy is. For the 4th year Gates is swimming on the Devereaux Swim team. His last year in the six and under age group. He started at age 3. The youngest ever to start on this team;) Let's just say he's a ROCKET... he speeds through the water like a rocket through space. He's FAST, really fast and he wins.... EVERY HEAT!!! Next year may bring new challenges for him, he will be morning up in age groups. He's little, very little. That hasn't stopped him thus far, but we will see. Gates doesn't swim with the grace that Gunnar does, but that too will come. As a family we went to Disney!! We had a blast, taking every park by storm. Gates was tall enough for EVERY ride(except Rocking Roller Coaster) and we rode them ALL!! It quickly became apparent that Tower of Terror was NOT our favorite ride. Gates and Gunnar rode Mt. Everest 16 times. I was motion sick after the 1st. The weather was perfect and the lines weren't too long. It was a vacation we were all in much need of taking. I haven't forgotten about my blog, just have spent my free time doing other things. From this point forward, I'm going to try to update at least monthly. Surely I can fit that in somewhere!!!
