April 23rd, my baby girl is now EIGHT!! I can hardly believe it. I worked last night so on my way home I stopped and got a few birthday morning surprises. Dunkin donuts for chocolate frosted donuts with sprinkles, the grocery store for a bouquet of sunflowers for my sunshine, a birthday balloon and a cookie cake(special request) for the classroom celebration. I got a lot done in such a small amount of time. Gunnar was so excited. She loved getting the goodies before going off to school. Todd went to lunch with her and took chick-fil-a for an added bonus, another smile from the birthday girl. When she got home she was excited to tell me that everyone sang happy birthday to her on the bus(even the bus driver) and in her classroom. So school was in her words "awesome".... For dinner she chose Mellow Mushroom---YUMMO! The Savinos joined us in our dinner celebration. We had an hour wait before finally getting our table. Todd ordered Cherry Coke for the kids at the table. Nice treat, especially for the two little ones(Gates and Dominic). Gunnar Grace got to drink hers out of a Ketchup bottle--she requested a "special birthday glass". We had garlic pretzels while we waited for our pizzas to arrive. The pizza was fabulous! Our waitress was spectacular-- at the end of the night she brought out a HUGE cinnamon sugar pretzel, which apparently is Mellow Mushrooms version of a birthday cake. It was big enough for all of us to share. You'd think we'd have been extremely full by this point but we all dug in then rolled out of the restaurant, yawning and holding our bellies. We had a great night, but I must say I'm still in awe that my baby girl is 8 years old.
